Round 2 of tourneys

This past weekend we had three more games. We ended up 2-1 so overall it was good progress for us. Two of the teams were from our league so we will see them again in the regular season. The other team was from Hungary. None of the games were very close in score to make dramatic endings. The game we lost we didn't play solid defense and lost by about 12 points. We gave up too many easy points. That will come with still getting accustomed to playing together. There are still too many communication errors that we need to correct. The team from Hungary had three 7-footers so that was interesting guarding them. We had an advantage in speed so that helped us beat them although they clearly had the rebounding edge. I played fairly well throughout the games. I didn't shoot very well in one of the games, but the other two went well.

The team went out to experience Oradea's nightlife on Saturday night. It was a good time and beer is cheap so that's always a plus :) I came out of there with the constant thud of house music in my ears and smelling like a cigarette so that wasn't the most enjoyable, but a good time with the guys nonetheless. We have another tournament this weekend in Hungary so I will keep you posted on how that goes. I hope all is well back in the good ol' United States.

  1. Hey buddy, just got internet at my new place so i'm back in the blogging game. Sounds to me like things are going pretty well for you and the team. Glad to hear the team goes out together. That can only help team chemistry, especially for foreigners (you). Sorry about the house music though, yuck.

Do any of these tournaments count for anything or are they more just exhibitions? Are you getting plenty of minutes over there? What kind of offense do you run?

I'll try not to ask a million questions but I have several. Talk to you soon big guy. Good luck.

  2. Thanks for the comment my man and I will answer your questions all day so keep 'em coming. These games don't count for anything - just exhibition games like you said. I am getting minutes over here, but not as many as I would like sometimes. The coach will take me out for a breather and I won't get in the rest of the quarter. There is a rule over here that you need to have at least one Romanian on the floor at all times so that doesn't help the playing time sometimes. We will see how it goes.
We run mostly sets, but it's not too bad.
    Talk to you soon buddy
